关于参加2019年英国卡迪夫大学暑期项目的报名通知

    卡迪夫大学（Cardiff University）是一所世界百强名校，国际知名学府。学校于1883年成立，位于英国威尔士首府卡迪夫（Cardiff），是威尔士地区唯一一所罗素集团（The Russell Group）的成员，该集团亦被称为英国的常春藤联盟，同时也是欧洲大学工会（EUA），世界大学联盟（WUN）和联邦大学工会（ACU）的成员。

    为了增进我校学生对不同国家、不同文化的认识和了解，提高学生的英语水平和国际交流能力，加强学生对Advanced Materials、Big Data and High-Performance Computing、Catalysts in Chemistry、Cybersecurity、Electronic Engineering、Low Carbon Architecture、Robotics and Manufacturing Informatics、Sustainable Civil Engineering等方面的学习和了解，2019年我校拟开展与卡迪夫大学的暑期项目。现将具体内容通知如下：

一、项目名称：2019年英国卡迪夫大学暑期项目。

二、项目地点：英国卡迪夫。
三、项目内容：项目时间：2019年7月20日至2019年8月3日。学生从八个方向中选择一个进行修读（请见网站介绍）。课程形式包括专题报告、实验、以及实地参观。卡迪夫暑期课程不仅提供精彩的学习体验，还包括在卡迪夫市中心的住宿，英国文化旅行以及在充满活力的威尔士首府的有趣的社会活动。

1.Advanced Materials

学习课程包括：Organic Electric Materials、Materials Characterisation、Modern Microporous Materials、Characterising materials with microwaves、Compound semiconductors in a world of communications、Damage detection in advanced materials using acoustic emission、 Compound Semiconductor Physics、THz Physics and Metamaterials、 Diamonds, Magnetic Materials and Optoelectronics

2.Big Data and High-Performance Computing

学习课程包括：Python and introduction to data analysis、Introductory Data Analysis (formatting, processing)、Multivariate regression models、Data mining, classification and clustering、 Machine learning and deep learning、Examples of parallelism; shared and distributed memory architectures、 Introduction to message passing and the MPI programming model

3.Catalysts in Chemistry

学习课程包括：Oxidation of limonene、Computational chemistry、Materials and energy、Developing catalysts for a sustainable future、Spectroscopy and dynamics、Catalysis and interfacial science Cardiff Catalysis Institute、Biological chemistry、Characterissation of catalysis、Inorganic synthesis

4.Cybersecurity

学习课程包括：Security forensics、Malware and social media、Using the Twitter API、Cloud and Edge security、Security analytics、Generating attack patterns 、Markov analysis for security 、Impact of security on business continuity、Security of internet things 

5.Electronic Engineering

学习课程包括：What are mobile communications、 Interdisciplinary uses of microwave sensors and actuators 、Radio communication, modulation and detection、Mobile base station power amplifiers、 Information theory, encoding and networks、 The development of active harmonic load-pull and the development of RFPAs、Hands-on laboratory with National Instruments

6.Low Carbon Architecture

学习课程包括：Introduction to zero carbon housing: Designing sustainable places to live、Introduction to PG study at the school and themes for the design challenge、Introduction to design challenges、Study visit: Solcer House、BRE Innovation Park

7.Robotics and Manufacturing Informatics

学习课程包括：What are mobile robots and ROS、Laser based Simultaneous Localisation and Mapping (SLAM)、Path Planning and Reactive Behaviors、Design a State Machine、Manufacturing Informatics - the state-of-the-art、Industry 4.0 and Advanced Data Analytics

8.Sustainable Civil Engineering

学习课程包括：Self-healing concrete、Design issues with mega-tall structures、 Water engineering - future challenges、Structural engineering、Environmental Engineering、Building Information Modelling (BIM) and applications

四、申请条件：

1.我校2016级、2017级、2018级本科生，2017级和2018级研究生；

2.遵纪守法，维护国家形象和学校声誉。遵守华南农业大学相关规定，服从华南农业大学统一管理，严格按照学校规定的时间派出及返校；

3.身心健康，具有较强的独立生活能力和社会适应能力；

4.英语听说读写具有一定基础，能适应全英文授课。

五、报名时间：截止到2019年4月22日。
六、项目费用：

    1995英镑/人（我校学生享受245英镑/人优惠减免，即支付1750英镑/人）。包括：学费、住宿费、早餐和午餐（周一至周五）、英国机场接送、卡迪夫大学组织的参观（such as Stonehenge, industrial visits）。不包括：国际往返机票费、签证费、保险费、以及个人消费等。
